These crispy caramel apple nachos with toffee bits are a quick and easy dessert that looks impressive and tastes incredible. Perfect for last-minute gatherings or when a sugar craving hits, they come together in just 15 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large Granny Smith apples (firm and tart; Honeycrisp or Fuji work too)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade, thick and gooey)
  • 1/3 cup toffee bits (Heath bits recommended)
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your broiler to high. Place an oven rack about 6 inches from the heating element. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Wash and dry the apples. Cut each apple in half through the core, then use a melon baller or small spoon to scoop out the seeds and stem. Slice each half into thin wedges, about 1/4-inch thick. Toss the apple slices with the lemon juice in a bowl to prevent browning.
  3. Lay the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, avoiding overlap as much as possible. Brush the tops with the melted butter.
  4. Drizzle the caramel sauce evenly over the apples. Sprinkle the toffee bits all over, then add the chocolate chips if using. If adding nuts or cinnamon, sprinkle them on now.
  5. Place the baking sheet under the broiler and broil for 2 to 4 minutes, watching closely, until the caramel is bubbling and the edges of the apples are golden brown. Remove immediately if any spots start to burn.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool for 1 minute. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if using. Transfer to a serving platter and serve immediately while warm and crispy. Add whipped cream or ice cream right before serving if desired.

Notes

Watch the broiler closely as it can burn quickly. For a vegan version, use plant-based butter and dairy-free caramel sauce. For a nut-free version, skip the pecans or walnuts. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes.
