A quick and refreshing frozen watermelon slushie made with just frozen watermelon chunks, fresh lime juice, and honey. Perfect for hot summer days, this simple recipe delivers a sweet and tangy icy treat in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (600g) frozen watermelon chunks
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons (15 to 30ml) honey

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Watermelon: If you don’t have frozen watermelon chunks ready, cut a seedless watermelon into 1-inch cubes and freeze them overnight. You’ll need about 4 cups (600g) of frozen watermelon.
  2. Squeeze the Lime Juice: Roll the lime on the counter to help release the juice, then cut in half and juice until you have 2 tablespoons (30ml) of fresh lime juice. Remove any seeds.
  3. Measure the Honey: Start with 1 tablespoon (15ml) of honey in a small bowl or measuring spoon. You can add more later if you want it sweeter.
  4. Add Ingredients to Blender: Place the frozen watermelon chunks, lime juice, and honey in the blender. Secure the lid.
  5. Blend: Pulse the ingredients 3-4 times to break up the chunks, then blend on high speed for about 30 seconds or until the mixture is smooth and slushy. If it’s too thick, add a splash of cold water or ice cubes to adjust consistency. Avoid over-blending or the slushie may become too watery.
  6. Taste and Adjust: Give it a quick taste. If it’s not sweet enough, add another ½ to 1 tablespoon of honey and blend for 5-10 seconds more.
  7. Serve Immediately: Pour the slushie into chilled glasses. Garnish with a lime wedge or fresh mint leaf if you like.

Notes

Let frozen watermelon sit out for 2-3 minutes before blending if your blender is not very powerful to avoid overheating. Use short pulses first to break up chunks before full blending. Chill serving glasses for 10 minutes before pouring to keep the slushie icy longer. Adjust honey to taste and consider substituting with agave or maple syrup for vegan options.
