A quick and flavorful honey garlic grilled salmon recipe cooked in foil packets, perfect for a fuss-free, tender, and juicy dinner ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170 g each), wild-caught if possible
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw or organic recommended)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium Tamari for gluten-free option)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional fresh herbs (chopped parsley or dill) for garnish
  • Optional vegetables: thinly sliced bell peppers, zucchini, or asparagus

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze: In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons honey, 3 minced garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice until combined (about 3 minutes).
  2. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season lightly with black pepper.
  3. Tear off four large pieces of heavy-duty foil (about 12×12 inches each). Place a salmon fillet in the center of each piece. If using vegetables, arrange them around or under the salmon.
  4. Spoon the honey garlic mixture evenly over each fillet, covering the top and sides. Use a brush or back of a spoon for even coverage.
  5. Fold the foil over the salmon, sealing the edges tightly to create a packet with no gaps.
  6. Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F / 190°C). Place foil packets on the grill and cook for 12-15 minutes until salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Carefully open one packet to check doneness; if needed, reseal and cook for 2-3 more minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

Do not overcook the salmon to avoid dryness. Seal foil packets tightly to lock in moisture. If fillets vary in thickness, adjust cooking time accordingly. For indoor cooking, use a grill pan covered with a lid to trap heat. Marinate salmon for 15-20 minutes beforehand for more flavor, or glaze just before cooking.
