A quick and easy Halloween punch made with pineapple juice, lime sherbet, and ginger ale, topped with dry ice for a spooky fog effect. Perfect for parties and guaranteed to impress kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) pineapple juice
  • 1 quart (about 4 cups) lime sherbet
  • 4 cups (960 ml) ginger ale
  • 3–4 drops green food coloring (optional)
  • 1–2 pounds (500–900 grams) dry ice
  • Gummy worms or spider rings (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Chill the pineapple juice and ginger ale in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  2. Wearing thick gloves or using tongs, break the dry ice into small pieces (about 1-2 inches / 2.5-5 cm). Place in a bowl or on a plate; do not store in an airtight container.
  3. In a large punch bowl, combine the chilled pineapple juice and ginger ale. Stir gently. If using food coloring, mix 3-4 drops into a small amount of pineapple juice first, then add to the bowl and stir until evenly distributed.
  4. Just before serving, scoop the lime sherbet into the punch bowl in large dollops. Do not stir; let it float on top.
  5. Right before guests arrive, use tongs to carefully drop the dry ice pieces into the punch bowl. Stand back as the fog begins to roll. Do not serve until the dry ice has completely sublimated (10-15 minutes).
  6. Garnish with gummy worms or spider rings if desired. Place a ladle in the bowl and let guests serve themselves. Warn everyone not to touch the dry ice pieces at the bottom.
  7. To refresh the fog, add more dry ice pieces every 20-30 minutes as needed, ensuring the previous batch has fully sublimated.

Notes

Always handle dry ice with tongs or thick gloves to avoid frostbite. Never store dry ice in an airtight container. For best fog effect, use small pieces of dry ice and ensure all liquids are very cold. The punch is best served immediately after adding dry ice; leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours but will lose carbonation.
