These spider web fudge brownies are rich, fudgy, and topped with a silky chocolate ganache and a delicate white chocolate spider web pattern. They come together in about 45 minutes and are perfect for Halloween or any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on two sides.
  2. Melt the butter in a large microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts until fully liquid. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the granulated sugar to the melted butter and whisk until combined. Whisk for about a minute.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each. Add the vanilla extract and whisk again.
  5. In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  6. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients in two additions, folding gently with a rubber spatula until just combined.
  7. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
  9. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for at least 45 minutes.
  10. While the brownies cool, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it just begins to simmer. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips in a bowl and let it sit for 2 minutes. Stir gently until smooth. Add the softened butter and stir until glossy.
  11. Pour the ganache over the cooled brownies and spread evenly. Let it set for about 15 minutes at room temperature.
  12. Melt the white chocolate chips with the coconut oil in 20-second bursts in the microwave, stirring between each. Transfer to a small piping bag or zip-top bag.
  13. Pipe concentric circles on top of the ganache, starting from the center and working outward. Use a toothpick to drag lines from the center outward through the circles to create the web pattern. Wipe the toothpick clean between each line.
  14. Let the decoration set at room temperature for about 20 minutes, then refrigerate for 30 minutes to set the ganache completely before slicing.

Notes

Don’t overbake the brownies—they should be slightly underbaked for a fudgy texture. Use room temperature eggs to prevent the butter from seizing. For clean slices, run your knife under hot water and wipe it clean between each cut. The flavors deepen after a day or two.
