A quick and easy Halloween appetizer featuring creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip topped with a sour cream spiderweb design. Perfect for last-minute parties and guaranteed to impress guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (8 oz) blocks cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (recommended: Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (full-fat)
  • 1 small black olive, sliced into thin rounds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, buffalo wing sauce, and ranch dressing. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Fold in shredded chicken and half of the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into a 9-inch pie dish or oven-safe skillet.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses over the top.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until hot and bubbly. Optionally broil for 1-2 minutes for a browner top.
  7. Let the dip cool for 5 minutes.
  8. Fill a piping bag or zip-top bag with sour cream. Snip off a tiny corner. Pipe a small dot in the center, then pipe concentric circles around it, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  9. Starting from the center, drag a toothpick straight outward through all the circles. Wipe the toothpick clean and repeat, rotating slightly, until you have 8-12 lines creating a spiderweb pattern.
  10. Place a sliced black olive in the center for the spider body, and add tiny olive slivers for legs (optional).
  11. Serve immediately with chips, crackers, or veggie sticks.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat cream cheese to avoid a watery dip. Let the dip cool for 5 minutes before adding the sour cream spiderweb to prevent melting. The dip can be assembled (without spiderweb) up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated. Double the recipe for larger parties.
