Flavorful Bourbon Peach BBQ Sauce

  • 2 large fresh peaches, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Peel and dice 2 large ripe peaches into small cubes (about 1/2 inch). Set aside a few slices if you prefer a smoother sauce to blend later.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine diced peaches, ketchup, bourbon, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Stir well to combine.
  3. Add Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir thoroughly to mix spices evenly.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cook uncovered for 20–25 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes until sauce thickens and peaches soften.
  5. Add water if the sauce is too thick. For a smoother sauce, puree with a blender or immersion blender in batches if needed.
  6. Taste and adjust salt, sugar, or vinegar as desired.
  7. Let the sauce cool completely before transferring to a clean jar or airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

Use ripe peaches for best flavor and sweetness. Control heat to avoid burning sugars. Blending is optional depending on preferred texture. Sauce flavors deepen after resting overnight. Substitute bourbon with apple brandy or apple juice for non-alcoholic version. Adjust sweetness and tang to taste.
