These spooky easy mummy pigs in a blanket are a quick and fun Halloween appetizer made with hot dogs and crescent rolls, wrapped to look like tiny mummies. Perfect for parties, they’re buttery, salty, and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Mustard (for eyes)
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Cut the hot dogs in half crosswise into 2-3 inch pieces. Set aside.
  3. Open the crescent roll can, unroll the dough, and separate into 8 triangles.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each triangle lengthwise into 4-5 thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
  5. Take a hot dog piece and wrap the dough strips around it in a crisscross pattern, leaving about 1/4 inch of the hot dog exposed at the top for the face.
  6. Place the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch between each.
  7. Brush each mummy with melted butter.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Let cool for about 5 minutes.
  10. Add two small dots of mustard for eyes using a toothpick or knife tip.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature hot dogs and don’t overwork the dough. You can assemble these up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate. To freeze, bake first, cool completely, then freeze in a single layer; reheat at 350°F for 8-10 minutes.
