Halloween Punch - featured image

A happy accident turned into a Halloween party favorite! This easy, 10-minute green punch combines lemon-lime soda, green apple juice, limeade, and creamy lime sherbet for a spooky, crowd-pleasing drink that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (2-liter) bottle lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7UP), chilled
  • 1 (64-ounce) bottle green apple or white grape juice, chilled
  • 1 (12-ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
  • 1 quart lime sherbet, slightly softened
  • 1 cup gummy worms or gummy spiders (optional garnish)
  • Green food coloring gel (optional, to intensify color)
  • Dry ice (optional, for bubbling effect; handle with care)
  • Ice ring or large ice cubes (to keep cold)

Instructions

  1. Chill everything: At least 2 hours before serving, refrigerate the lemon-lime soda, juice, and limeade concentrate. Place the punch bowl in the freezer for 30 minutes to frost it.
  2. Make the ice ring (optional): The night before, fill a ring mold or small bundt pan halfway with water. Add a few gummy worms and green food coloring. Freeze until solid, then add more water to fill and freeze again.
  3. Mix the base: In the chilled punch bowl, gently combine the chilled lemon-lime soda and chilled juice with a wooden spoon. Stir gently to avoid losing carbonation.
  4. Add the limeade: Pour in the thawed limeade concentrate and stir gently until fully incorporated. Taste and adjust sweetness/tartness. If desired, add one tiny drop of green food coloring gel and stir.
  5. Add the sherbet: Just before serving, use an ice cream scoop to add large scoops of softened lime sherbet to the punch. Let it float on top to create a creamy, frothy layer.
  6. Add the ice: Gently place the ice ring or large ice cubes into the punch. Avoid small cubes as they melt too fast.
  7. Garnish and serve: Drop in a handful of gummy worms or spiders. If using dry ice, carefully add a small piece with tongs (never bare hands) right before serving. Ladle into cups and enjoy immediately.

Notes

For best results, keep all ingredients as cold as possible. Do not over-stir to preserve carbonation. If using dry ice, never touch it with bare hands and wait until it fully dissolves before drinking. For a dairy-free version, use vegan lime or pineapple sorbet instead of sherbet. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours but will be flat; use leftover liquid in smoothies or freeze into ice cubes for future punches.
